Designed by the architect Joaquín de la Concha Alcalde in 1915, the building in which this apartment can be found is a great example of Madrid's modernist tradition — keep an eye out for the decorative mouldings and bay windows as you walk up the impressive staircase. The home itself is worthy of appreciation, too. A 19th-century chandelier hangs over the bright living room filled with towering house plants and chic furnishings, while the large black kitchen with sleek black surfaces is as contemporary as they come. The smart grey bathroom wouldn't look out of place in a hotel, too. When it comes to filling up an itinerary, you don't have far to walk to reach some of the city's most famous sights. The Royal Palace, for instance, is only five minutes' away and the gardens of Campo del Moro lie just behind. Plaza Mayor is two minutes away on foot, too.

About Opera y Palacio Real
The small neighbourhood of Opera y Palacio Real sits next to the Royal Palace and its grand squares with manicured gardens. It’s also home to El Teatro Royal, the grand opera house. This part of town has an abundance of space and is far less busy than other parts of central Madrid – the calmness of the area makes it popular with families. You’ll find high-end local shops to peruse, as well as excellent restaurants, in this refined and sedate neighbourhood.
